I just recently finished editing a group of photographs from "Fight Breast Cancer" fundraiser I did last month. I took some photographs of the gorgeous ladies modelling clothes for the fashion show and it got me thinking.*
Why do women need a reason to have their portrait taken?
Don't get me wrong, when the reasons are there, they're good ones. For instance "I've lost tons of weight", "I'm having a baby", "I've graduated", "I've overcome something". But what about "I just want a few really great photographs of myself" and why not? Why wait for a reason?
In my opinion every woman needs a great photo of herself. When I say great I mean one in which she looks her best. One she can look back at and think "I looked amazing". A photograph she would happily have anyone see.
I'm talking about the "everything's right" photograph. The shoot that you spent ages to get ready for. When the clothes you wore suited you and your surroundings and your hair and make-up were spot on. The photographer who knew what they were doing and captured you in the best light, position and frame. The one you look at and then feel great about yourself.
The photo that shows you at your best.
An image of yourself that will be handed down in generations to come.
An image of yourself that shouts "This is me".
The truth is you don't have to have a reason ladies. Call a friend who takes great pictures. Hire a photographer. Hire me!
